What is a Movement?

The movement (also called the caliber) is the engine of a watch. It's the mechanism that makes the hands turn, the date change, and the second hand sweep. In the world of super clones, the movement is the single most important quality indicator.

The Three Tiers

Asian Movements (Budget)

The most common budget caliber is the Asian 2813 (also called Miyota 8215 variants). These are reliable, cheap, and widely available — but they have a telltale "stuttering" second hand and lower power reserves (around 40 hours). If a seller won't name the movement, it's probably an Asian 2813.

Clone Movements (Mid-High)

Clone movements are reverse-engineered from the originals. A Clone 3235 replicates Rolex's caliber 3235 — same rotor design, same power reserve (70 hours), same beat rate (28,800 vph). These are the heart of super clone watches and offer the best balance of accuracy and longevity.

Swiss ETA Movements (Premium)

Geniune Swiss-made movements from ETA SA, such as the ETA 2824-2 or ETA 7750 chronograph. These are the gold standard — actual Swiss parts, Swiss assembly, Swiss precision. Watches with genuine Swiss ETA movements command a premium price.

How to Identify What You're Getting

Ask three questions before buying:

1. What's the caliber? A confident seller will name it exactly.

2. What's the power reserve? If they say "about 2 days" instead of "70 hours", it's likely generic.

3. What's the beat rate? 28,800 vph (8 beats per second) produces the signature smooth sweep. Budget movements run at 21,600 vph (6 beats) — visible to the trained eye.
